All of the camps within the Moccasin Trails Adventures group are located somewhere within three of the five main watersheds of Ontario: the Winisk River, the Attawapiskat River and the Albany River, all of which flow into the ocean at either James Bay or Hudson Bay. Most of the camps are located anywhere from 300 miles to 500 miles north, northwest or northeast of the city of Thunder Bay.
All camps are remote and accessible only by float plane. You can fly to the Thunder Bay International airport, and then you could fly on to Pickle Lake, Ontario, where the float plane base is situated. Or, you could drive from your home all the way to Pickle Lake, which is about a six hour drive northeast of Thunder Bay. Guests who have their own plane fly into to one of the First Nations communities such as Webequie and meet their guides there.
When you have decided on which camp you would like to go to, we will discuss more precise travel options for you at that time.
Wait until you see our late evening skies!
If you’d like to search for the the locations of the individual camps on your computer, we have listed the GPS co-ordinates below. Google Earth is very accurate.
Chipai Outpost Camp - 52° 53' 01" N x 87° 51' 16"W
Winisk River Trip – Since you’ll be moving along the river, staying in three camps along the trip, we don’t bother listing the GPS co-ordinates for each camp. However, here are the co-ordinates for the main section of the river – 54 39’ 11” N x 87 21’ 15”W
